On the eve of international women’s day, DSS organised week-long campaign on gender equality, awareness of special laws in the villages and slums of the working area of DSS in both the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh from 4th March 2022 to 10th March 2022. In Andhra Pradesh, the campaign was undertaken in:
· Angala Kuduru, Tenali mandal, Guntur dt.
· Uppalapadu village, Guntur dt.
· Pattabipuram, Sangadigunta, A.T. Agraharam of Guntur town.
In Telangana State:
· Erra Manzil, R.K. Nagar, Devarakonda, Balapur, Khairtabad slums in Hyderabad.
The campaign was carried on by the women collective leaders under the guidance of state coordinators of both the states. The campaign was carried on the main theme: “Equality of dalit/Adivasi women is essential for Social Progress”. In all the gatherings the women collective leaders-initiated discussions on gender equality, family system, socialising the children, social evils, effective implementation of special laws etc. The village and slum women were encouraged to present the problems faced by them.
